The Pride of McAlester Color Guard is part of the Pride of McAlester marching band program. This ensemble combines elements of dance, flag-spinning, rifle tossing, and other visual performance arts to enhance the overall presentation and musical experience of the marching band.

• Visual Enhancement: The primary role of the color guard is to visually interpret the music played by the marching band. Through synchronized movements, intricate choreography, and the use of various props such as flags, rifles, and sabres, the color guard adds a dynamic and colorful element to the performance.

• Storytelling and Theme Development: The color guard helps convey the thematic elements of the band's performance. The color guard's routines and costumes are designed to reflect and enhance the story being told.

• Competitions and Performances: The color guard participates in numerous competitions and performances throughout the year. They perform at football games, parades, and band competitions at regional and state levels. Their performances are judged on precision, creativity, and overall impact, contributing to the band's overall score in competitions.

• Training and Discipline: Members of the color guard undergo rigorous training in both technical skills and physical conditioning. They practice routines that require high levels of coordination, stamina, and artistic expression. This training not only prepares them for performances but also instills values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

• Community Representation: As part of the Pride of McAlester program, the color guard serves as ambassadors for their community.
